Lee’s play, “Straight White Men, ” explores the themes of identification, privilege and US values, she stated. Recognized for writing performs that focus on identity from different points of view, Lee stated she wished to explore the idea of the way the titular team now includes a label mounted on it.
“I noticed a societal change where right white men was once simply the standard individual and from now on they will have an identification category, ” Lee stated. “They’re responding to it in the manner everyone responds to it whenever that takes place for them. No one likes it, but they’re experiencing it the very first time. ”
